Dimensional Cosmos + a Clever Foil Twist

Hi everyone!

This “thinking of you” card is full of softness, texture, and a little foil magic — all thanks to the beautiful details in Susan Tierney-Cockburn’s Summer Solstice Garden Collection at Spellbinders. I loved building these dimensional cosmos flowers, giving each petal its own shape and shading for a truly lifelike effect.

With all that stunning dimension, this one’s definitely a “give in person or box-it-up” kind of card 💌 — it’s too special (and too 3D!) to squeeze into a standard envelope. And let’s talk about that sentiment — it has a little trick up its sleeve!

I created it using leftover foil from a previous pass:
✨ First, I foiled the BetterPress plate with black foil to get traditional black text.
✨ Then, I used the negative foil sheet to get this second version: white text with a black background!

It’s such a fun way to stretch your supplies and add a bold look to your design.

Design Highlights:

  • 🌸 3D Cosmos Magic – Each bloom is shaped and inked for dimension that practically jumps off the card.
  • 🖤 Double Duty Foiling – I used leftover foil to create the sentiment for that sleek white-on-black look.
  • 💌 Not-So-Mailbox-Friendly – This card’s got some height, so it’s best delivered by hand or in a sturdy box.
  • 🎨 Bold + Soft – The contrast between the delicate cosmos and crisp black elements makes everything pop.
  • 🖤 Little Black Dots – Just a few enamel dots to tie the sentiment in and add a little visual rhythm.

This one is for those “just because” moments — when you want someone to know they’re on your heart 💕

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
