A Sunshine-Soaked Card

Spellbinders | Wildflowers Collection by Lisa Horton
05/10/2025

Hi everyone!

I reached for warm, golden tones and delicate details to create this card using Lisa Horton’s Wildflowers Collection at Spellbinders — and the result feels like a burst of sunshine in paper form ☀️💛

The floral (I used the gladiolus die here!) are full of layered detail and sit beautifully against a softly inked and BetterPressed background. I paired them with a stitched oval and a sentiment that says it all: “You make every moment golden.” It’s the kind of card that’s perfect for letting someone know just how much they brighten your day.

Design Highlights:

  • 🌼 Golden Gladiolus – These layered die-cut blooms add height, detail, and a lovely pop of sunshine.  I used ink to create depth and add even more dimension to the petals.
  • 🖋 BetterPressed Background – I used the Script Text BetterPress plate to add delicate script texture in warm golden tones — subtle and elegant!
  • 🟡 Tone-on-Tone Ink Blending – Soft ink behind the oval adds a warm glow without overpowering the florals.
  • 🧵 Framed Focal Point – The stitched oval panel gives the bouquet a clean, elegant frame.
  • 💬 Heartfelt Sentiment – “You make every moment golden” says it all — simply and sweetly.

This card is all about warmth, light, and thoughtful details. It’s one I’d reach for again and again when I want to make someone smile 🌞

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
