A Sweet Season

AALL & Create
12/13/2025

Hello everyone!

Holiday cards always have a way of brightening even the grayest December days, especially when they feature a little personality and a lot of color. This week’s AALL & Create Guest Design card captures both with a cheerful mix of whimsy and warmth.

For this design, I created a simple snowy slope and added a soft aqua sky for a frosty backdrop. The charming character takes center stage in her red outfit, ready for a festive stroll under the mistletoe. A tiny tree completes the scene and brings just enough sparkle to the season.

Design Highlights
🎄 Minimal layers to keep the design clean and fresh
🎨 Soft ink blending for a cozy winter sky
🧣 Pops of red and green that feel perfectly merry
✨ Subtle shimmer details for a hint of holiday sparkle

✂️ Studio Tip: When creating snowy hills, try layering two slightly different shades of white or a different pale color (here I used white cardstock against a soft aqua ink-blended panel). The difference adds quiet depth and keeps your scene from looking flat.

Have a wonderfully creative day.

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
