Old and New: Christmas Snowflakes

Simon Says Stamp | Sweet Wishes Release
11/01/2024

Hi there!

I love to mix my older products with some newer ones to create something totally, and refreshingly fun!  So, to that end, today I’m sharing a Christmas card that features a previously released stamp set with a new die that just came out in Simon Says Stamp’s Sweet Wishes release.

For this card, I heat embossed the snowflakes in white on watercolor card stock.  I then used several different colors of Distress Ink Sprays to add some color over the snowflakes and make the embossed images pop.

When the panel was dry, I trimmed it down ¼ of an inch on all sides and popped it up with foam adhesive on a card front.

I die cut the Merry Christmas words 4 times from white card stock and cut the shadow die once from vellum (both dies are part of the set).  I stacked 3 of the word diecuts together.  I added the 4th word diecut to the vellum shadow and then aligned it over the 3 stacked diecuts.  This gave me 3 diecuts on the back side of the vellum.  I used liquid glue to add it the card front.

Tip:  I often use layers of card stock like I did here instead of foam adhesive – especially when the dies are intricate and I’m using vellum.  This allowed me to add dimension to the card without worrying about the foam adhesive being seen and also adds sturdiness to the sentiment.

As a final touch, I added a few of the new Pawsitively Dazzling Opal gems to the card front.

I hope this card inspires you to combine some of your older products with something new!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I will have to get out my sprays…not very skilled at using them, but I will try again. Beautiful snowflake cards.
