Simple Thanks – Embossing with Stencils

Simon Says Stamp | STAMPtember® Release
09/16/2024

Hi there!

Today I’m sharing another card featuring products from the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember® release!

This is a clean and simple card with just a pop of color and dimension.  I think the geometric pattern makes it perfect for a masculine card but the twine and pearl accents make it feminine, too – which gives it so much versatility!

To make this card:

  1. Trim a panel of white card stock to 3.75 x 5 inches.
  2. Use one of the stencils from the new Quilting Quarters Stencil set to emboss the panel.  You’ll need to use a rubber embossing mat and your die cutting machine to get a good impression (follow the instructions on your embossing machine for best results).  I suggest choosing one of the stencils that has the look of random squares, but you could use any of the stencils in this set for this step.
  3. Next, use the stencils in the set to ink-blend the pattern on a card stock panel using several shades of greens and blues.  I used the first 3 stencils only to preserve a lot of white space between the colors, but you could do all the stencils for a bolder effect!  You’ll only be using a strip of this panel so be sure to save the rest for another card.
  4. Cut a long, thin, banner out of the ink-blended panel and adhere it with liquid glue to the embossed panel.
  5. Add some twine around the top of the panel and adhere it to a card base using foam adhesive.
  6. Die cut the Simple Thanks Die out of silver card stock and several times out of white card stock.  Layer the sentiment using liquid glue.
  7. Use liquid glue to adhere the sentiment to the card front.
  8. Add a few gems for some sparkle!

I hope you like this card and that it inspires you to try using your stencils as embossing folders!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
