Hi there!
It’s maybe a little early for Thanksgiving but I couldn’t resist playing with the new “Give Thanks and Eat Pie” layering stamp set that is part of Simon Says Stamp’s STAMPtember® release. There are two other bold, layering images in this set – including a pilgrim’s hat and a pie.
Sometimes a card layout comes to me by accident – which is what happened here. When playing with the images from the stamp set, I got it in my head that I wanted to use the turkey. I happened to have a few leftover die cut “thanks” sentiments on my craft table and realized that the “thanks” sentiment was a good fit, spatially, for the turkey, if I put it vertically. So that’s how this card started.
To make this card:
- Stamp the turkey on a card panel. I used my blending brushes to add ink to each stamp in the layer so that I could get a graduation of intensity for each impression, but I’m not sure that came through as much as I would have liked.
- Die cut the Thanks vertically next to the turkey (hint: it fits well under the turkey, too, if you don’t want your sentiment to be vertical). Be sure to keep the middle pieces for the h, a, and s.
- Mask off a top and bottom stripe and ink blend a sky and grass to ground the turkey and create a scene. I faded my ink blending at the edges and where it hit the die cut sentiment.
- On a card base, ink blend one of the colors from your turkey so that it will show behind the die cut opening.
- Adhere your turkey panel to your card base using foam adhesive.
- If desired ,inset the middle pieces for the h, a, and s (this step could be skipped if you like).
What do you think? Do you like the layout of this card?
Thank you for stopping by my blog! I hope you’re having a wonderful STAMPtember®!
Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!
