You Shine

Simon Says Stamp

Hi there!

I don’t know about you, but I just love it when I have unexpected free time. Even better when it’s a large enough chunk of time to actually play around in my studio and make something pretty! Today’s card was made during one of those unexpected gifts of time!

I was in the mood to make something clean and simple, so I decided to use Simon Says Stamp’s “Etched Evening Blossom” die and pair it with the Simon Says Stamp “You Shine” sentiment dies I have had in my stash for a while.

I die cut the blossom (the blossom and stem are all one die) and used my Copic Markers to color them:

Blossom: V01, V05, V06, and V09
Stem/Leaves: YG03, G94, G99

I just love this lavender color combo!

The “You Shine” sentiment die set is probably my favorite sentiment die of all time! I love the different fonts and I love how the background die makes it easy to fit the letters in perfectly every time. I hope they come out with more sets like this!

I used black card stock for the “You” and glitter card stock for the “shine”, which may have been a bit too literal, but I love how it turned out. 😊 I did add a layer of card stock underneath each of the letters in “shine” so that they would pop up just a bit. I like the added dimension this gave them.

I cut out the banner using the Pink Fresh “Ornate Banner” die and popped it up on my card front using foam adhesive. Then, I arranged and adhered my flower and the base of my sentiment. I added in the letters for “shine”, along with a few sequins.

At this point, I realized that I wasn’t loving the center of my flower, so I dug through my stash and found an old gem that ended up exactly what I needed. It looked like a flower center, was the right size, and matched perfectly with the gold gems and glitter paper. Sometimes, I get lucky!

I hope you like my project today and I appreciate you stopping by!

Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
