The Fable Giraffe die from Simon Says Stamp’s Always There release immediately felt like the kind of product that was never going to result in just one card.
There was simply too much personality packed into that tiny face to stop at a single design decision. Naturally, this turned into a full three-card series featuring soft ink blending, playful scene building, and what I can only describe as an entirely reasonable level of giraffe-related nonsense.
For this collection, I wanted each card to feel distinct while still clearly belonging together. Keeping the color palette soft, sunny, and slightly whimsical created continuity across the series, while changing layouts, sentiment approaches, and scene construction allowed each card to develop its own identity. Multi-card projects always work best for me when they feel coordinated without looking like I accidentally copied myself three times.

You Get My Kind of Weird
The first card leaned fully into quirky humor, because honestly, “You get my kind of weird” paired with an upside-down giraffe was simply too good to ignore. This design felt playful from the beginning, and I loved how the softer scene elements kept the humor feeling polished rather than overly cartoonish.

Hey, Friend
The second card shifted slightly more interactive in feeling, sentiments placed in a circle around a spotlight, which added movement and created a design that feels cheerful, playful, and perhaps just a little socially ambitious. There’s something especially satisfying about a card that looks like it’s already planned your lunch date for you.

Long Time No See
For the third card, I wanted to simplify things even further. This design became the cleanest of the trio, relying on strong placement, layered foliage, and generous breathing room to let the giraffe’s personality do most of the work. Sometimes one good focal point really is enough, especially when it already looks mildly confused.
What tied this full collection together most was the balance between humor and restraint. The Fable Giraffe die brings obvious personality, but pairing it with softer palettes, clean layouts, and intentional composition allowed the designs to stay aligned with my overall style rather than tipping too far into novelty.
Also, I deeply appreciate any product that allows me to build an entire coordinated series around a single slightly awkward animal.
This release was a very good reminder that playful design can still feel polished, and apparently giraffes are now a legitimate part of my creative strategy.
