Apparently September is when my craft room officially decides it’s fall, regardless of what the thermometer has to say about it.

And honestly, I’m fine with that.

For this month’s Spellbinders Clubs, I made two cards that landed on very different ends of the autumn personality spectrum. One is an adorable little owl surrounded by a pile of colorful leaves, while the other features a turkey who appears to have enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner every bit as much as the rest of us.

I used a similar palette across both cards, pulling in those deep blues and greens alongside the more expected oranges, yellows, and warm neutrals. I love what the cooler colors do here. They keep the traditional fall shades from taking over and give both cards a slightly richer feel.

For the owl, I piled the foliage underneath him and kept the rest of the design fairly open. The moon and stars add just a hint of nighttime magic without turning the whole thing into a scene.

The turkey needed considerably less help in the personality department. 😂 I gave him a big moon behind him, a deep blue background, and that absolutely perfect “Stuffed with gratitude” sentiment. His expression pretty much handled the rest.
