Now, for my stop on the hop:

There’s something special about combining old favorites with fresh new tools. This design celebrates that perfect blend of tradition and texture.

I started by coloring directly on my stamps with my Tombow watercolor markers, then misting them before stamping them on watercolor cardstock. I used the markers and a water brush to spread the color or intensify shading. I then die-cutting the images and layered them over a tag that I had layered with collage paper. I layered the tag over a deep teal background that I created with Distress Spray Stain to create contrast and richness. I finished it off with a few die cut foliage pieces that I had also colored with the same markers and water brush. The subtle tag element grounds the composition, while touches of silver and gloss bring a frosted, dimensional finish that feels just right for the season.

💡 Design Highlights

  • 🍃 Layered Foliage: Coordinating dies and Tim Holtz stamps create detailed holly leaves with lifelike dimension.
  • ✂️ Precision Cuts: The new Holiday Dies make it easy to build layers that align seamlessly with stamped images.
  • 🩶 Rich Contrast: A deep teal background enhances the bright greens and berries.
  • ✨ Metallic Accents: The “Season of Magic” sentiment adds a subtle silver shine for an elevated finish.
  • 🎀 Finishing Touch: A crisp white ribbon softens the overall look and adds that final festive touch.

Classic, cozy, and just the right touch of shimmer — this card captures the heart of handmade holiday style.

Very pretty card. I like the blue background-it sets off the image nicely. Also like that you used your Tombows to ink the stamp. I often forget about that technique, but it looks beautiful on this card.

This card looks similar to a card design that I did, although you used better ink colors than I did and I also like the addition of the stamping behind the tag. Great idea!! Thank you!

Pure elegance here! Wow! Everything about this card is classic. Even the way you took a photo of your card and the props just added to the elegance of it all. That teal background using the three stains grabs your immediate attention and sets the tone of “Classy”. Like wow! Stopped me right there. Then continuing to admire the rest of your work was just so inspiring. Will be pulling out my Tombows and trying this out. Really gorgeous card here. Bravo!!

Beautiful as always. And so creative to just use the die cut image vs. the entire thing with the background.

    Dear Jean,
I adore this! I love the colors — that teal background (I’m wondering how you achieved that color w/ the ones listed in your supplies grouping) is GORGEOUS and goes so well w/ the shades of green and pinky-red colors used in the holly leaf image. The three main colors plus white perfectly complement each other.

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
