A Bit of Christmas Drama

Simon Says Stamp | All the Joy Release
11/17/2023

Hello everyone!

I’m popping in quick today to share this dramatic Christmas card I created using the new Joyful Anemone background stamp from the Simon Says Stamp “All the Joy” release (you can find the link in my supplies list below).

I apologize that this post is so short and that I’ve only posted a few cards lately! I had a lovely vacation earlier this month to the Balearic Islands and other sites in the Mediterranean but I managed to catch a nasty cold that has made me rather miserable the last few weeks and has a bit curtailed my crafting. I’m feeling a bit better today and hope to back to crafting soon.

For this card, I opted for the drama of soft colored florals with a black background. It might seem like an unusual color combo for a Christmas card, and I did *almost* rethink it, but I decided that the black created an elegance that fits well with the holiday season. I hope you agree!

Thank you all for visiting my blog today! I promise to back in my craft room with more inspiration soon!

This is just beautiful. Sorry to hear that you are not feeling great. I had a horrible cold and sinus infection, so I can ballpark how you’ve been doing. It took me 10 days to feel really better and now I have just had a really hectic weekend and am feeling run down again. I hope that the 6-day holiday I have coming up from the petri dish of a public HS where I work will afford me plenty of time to rest.
Feel better and push fluids. The card is stunningly beautiful!

I hope you feel better, Lori!!! Being sick on the holiday is awful!

You can use the Zig markers on black cardstock? I have those markers, but it never occurred to me to try them on black.

Not quite. I used Zig markers on white cardstock – I just colored the background of the flowers black with my black zig marker. It makes it look like it was done on black carsick but it wasn’t. 🙂

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
