Bright Skies Ahead

Spellbinders | Take Note Collection
05/15/2025

Hi everyone!

I had so much fun putting this 4.75” x 4.25” card together using several goodies from the Take Note Collection by Spellbinders (@teamspellbinders)! This one is all about mixing textures and clever details — and giving rainy days a little sunshine ☔☀️

What really makes this card special is how I used the BetterPress Take Note Press Plate in two ways:

  • 💌 First, I inked it up and pressed it traditionally for the cute notepaper look.
  • 🖋 Then, I used it again — no ink this time — to dry emboss a subtle lined texture into the background. It’s a soft detail that adds a clean and polished touch without competing with the scene. This shows up better in the photo below:

Design Highlights:

  • ☁️ Cloudy with a chance of cuteness – I layered up some dimensional clouds and raindrops to create a cozy little scene.
  • ☔ A pop of blue – That umbrella steals the show with playful shades of navy and teal.
  • 📎 Pinned in place – I added a push pin and paperclip for a whimsical “pinned note” effect.
  • 🌤 Sunny vibes – The sunshine peeking from behind the notepaper totally brightens the mood.
  • 🥰 Sentiment that shines – “Friends make every view brighter” brings it all home.

This card reminds me that even cloudy moments can have bursts of brightness — especially when you’ve got a good friend by your side.

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

This is superb! I love the little image. The repetition of the lines draws the layers together.

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
