One of my favorite things about getting together with crafty friends is seeing just how differently everyone approaches the same supplies.

Put the same products in front of four cardmakers, and you’ll end up with four completely different cards. Someone will reach for colors I never would have considered. Someone else will try a technique I’d never think to use. It’s one of my favorite reminders that creativity doesn’t come with a rule book.

This card was one of those moments.

I stepped outside my usual color palette and let myself experiment a little. The finished card certainly doesn’t look like my “typical” style, but that’s part of what made it fun. It reminded me that trying something different every now and then isn’t a bad thing. You never know where a little experimentation might lead.

Will I be reaching for these colors every day? Probably not.

But I’m glad I gave them a chance.
