Just Bee-cause: Spellbinders Stamp & Die of the Month

Spellbinders' Club Kits for January
01/06/2024

#AD

Hi everyone!

It’s the 6th of the month and that means this month’s Spellbinders Clubs are released to Club Members!  If you’re not a club member, this is also your chance to subscribe so that you can get this month’s Club products and future club kits at a generous savings (and free shipping)!

I’m so excited to be designing for Spellbinders’ Stamp and Die of the Month Club this year!  If you haven’t signed up, I hope my card today inspires you to do so!  Here is a bit more information about the Clubs:

I love that this month’s Club features flowers and bees and honey!  Most of you know that I love warm weather.  Wisconsin winters are beautiful but it’s not unusual for me to spend my winter days daydreaming about green grass and sunshine.  The images in this stamp set have done wonders to warm my mood!

For my card today, I decided to try no-line water coloring.  I just love the soft look of this technique!  I used a light-colored dye ink for the flower and honey jar stamps, then water colored them with my Sakura Koi inks.  The dye ink is water-based, so when you paint over it with watercolors, the line disappears and gives you a soft, no-line look.

Because the bees have so much black on them, I used an amalgam ink (not a dye ink) to stamp them before (and after) I watercolored them.  Amalgam inks are not dye-based so when you watercolor over them, they don’t fade or bleed.

I used the coordinating dies (included in the Stamp and Die of the Month Club) to cut out my images and arranged them on a card front with a tag die and an embossed background.  A quick bow from baker’s twine and the card the card is complete!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

Hello Jean, I like your card very much, are there any dimensions for it please? Cheers and Thankyou, Marilyn.

      Hi Marilyn,
      Thank you so much!
This is an A2 sized card – so it is 4.25 x 5.5 inches. Let me know if you need anything further!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
