Simon Says Stamp | DieCember® Release
12/11/2024

Hi there!

I’m popping in quick today to share this unique stocking card featuring a flap front.  This stocking is part of the Simon Says Stamp DieCember® release and is designed as a gift card holder but it doesn’t have to be used that way – I decided to use it to create a unique card that is perfect for anyone on your Christmas list.

To make this card, start with an A2 top-folding card base and cut off all but a ½ inch of the top of the card (leaving the fold and the back of the card).

Die cut the pieces for the stocking and holly.  I used red cardstock for my stocking, then ink-blended the edges with Brick ink to add a bit of depth.  I used glitter cardstock for the top of the stocking and used plain white cardstock for the holly, which I colored with my Copic markers.

I also stamped the mittens from the Warmest Wishes stamp set using Field ink.

I decided I wanted to use the glitter cardstock on the mittens as well, so I did some fussy cutting to make that happen.

I used a small hole punch on each mitten and tied them together with a piece of baker’s twine.

I assembled my stocking with the holly and mittens using liquid glue and foam adhesive.

With my stocking ready, I adhered it to the ½ inch flap on the front of my card base.  You need to make sure the top of the stocking goes above the fold on the card.  You will now have a bit of the ½ inch flap shown on the left and right of the stocking.  You can use a scissors or paper trimmer to remove those pieces so that only the stocking folds down.

If you want to clean up the inside of the card so that you can’t see the flap, you can easily cut another stocking out of white cardstock, trim it to fit, and glue it in place.

I stamped my greeting under the flap and used my score board to create a few score lines around the edges of the card just for a bit of interest.

The fun fold on this card is so fun and I think it really makes the card unique.  I hope you like it and thank you for stopping by!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
