Hi everyone!
Today I’m sharing a card I made that features a wax seal as a card embellishment. I am just learning how to make (and use) wax seals and I think my favorite part is that if you mess up, you can easily re-melt the wax and start over without any waste. I made about 10 wax seals – all with different colors – before I decided that this pretty, soft pink one was perfect for this card.
This card is mostly made of die cuts that I ink blended to give shadows and highlights. Adding a foiled sentiment and securing the diecuts behind the wax seal provided the perfect finishing touches to the design.
I love how this card turned out and I hope you do, too. Thank you for stopping by my blog! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know if you’ve tried using wax seals on your cards!
I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
Hi Jean,
I just adore your beautiful mushroom card. This seal is so pretty. Your color blended on the mushroom caps is so realistic. And of course, I always love your displays and the mushroom is just too cute.
When you made the seal, did you pour the wax on wax paper so you could just peal it off and glue it down later? If so, I love that idea! I usually pour it on my card, then if I mess up, it’s ruined. 🙁
Hi Nan! I have the Spellbinders wax seal kit which comes with a silicone mat. I just pour on there. But parchment paper is a great idea! I have ruined plenty cards in my time so I’m a huge fan of making things “off the card” before adding them in.:-)
This is really lovely, Jean! I have done a few cards with wax seals – and plan to do many more.
Thank you, Karen! I find the wax seal to be a wonderful embellishment and I love that I can create it myself!
this is so soft and beautiful. Congratulations on a very lovely card
Thank you so much!
Wonderful shading on this beautiful card!
