Hogs and Kisses

Spellbinders | On the Farm Collection
02/17/2025

Hi everyone!

I had so much fun creating this farm-themed card using dies from the new Spellbinders On The Farm collection! This adorable piggy, complete with little gray spots, steals the show in a playful barnyard scene.

Spotlight Technique with a Twist

For this design, I used a variation of the Spotlight technique—not only to highlight the main scene within the arch die-cut but also to subtly extend a bit of color beyond the edges into the background. The soft green hills and blue sky continue onto the card base, creating a seamless transition that makes the focal point feel even more natural.

Design Details

🐷 Piggy Perfection – I couldn’t resist giving the little pig some cute gray spots for extra character. The layered die-cut pieces and light ink blending add dimension and bring him to life!

🌿 Layered Scene – The rolling hills and muddy patch add depth, while the arch frame focuses the eye on the adorable farmyard moment.

☁️ Soft Sky & Finishing Touches – I added fluffy die-cut clouds to frame the sentiment, “Sending hogs and kisses,” and tied twine around the top for a rustic, farmhouse-inspired touch. A few embellishments complete the design without overpowering the scene.

I love how this card came together with the On The Farm collection! Have you crafted any farm-inspired cards lately? Let me know in the comments!

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
