A Warm Hello

Simon Says Stamp | DieCember® Release
12/09/2024

Hi there!

I’ve got a warm and cozy card to share today that’s just perfect for your Winter card-making.   I gave mine a bit of a Christmas feel because I’ve been feeling super festive lately.

To make this card, I used a stencil and some glitter gel to create the banner.  My banner dies hadn’t arrived yet, so once the glitter gel was dry, I used my paper trimmer and scissors to cut the banner to the size I wanted and adhered it directly to my card front with liquid glue.

I stamped the mittens from the Warmest Wishes stamp set (this set is part of the Simon kit and is available separately if you’re interested).  I used Cherry ink to stamp the mitten, then used my blending brush with a bit of Brick ink directly onto the stamp and around the edges to give the mittens a bit of depth.

I stamped the berry stems and the sentiment (both are part of the Warmest Wishes set) then fussy cut all the images.

I die cut a circle out of vellum, then arranged my berry stems and mittens where I wanted them.  I used a bit of baker’s twine to make the mittens look like they were hanging from the stems band and secured all the images to the vellum circle using foam adhesive.

I used more foam adhesive behind the vellum circle (and behind the images) and placed it on my card front so that it slightly overlapped the banner.    I then added my sentiment with both liquid glue and foam adhesive.

I rounded out the card with a few Cherry dazzling gems just for a bit more sparkle.

I hope you like this card and that it inspires you to create something beautiful!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

Hi Jean. I love your cards. The glitter gel through the heart stencil turned out beautifully. I want to try that technique.

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
