Double the Love

01/30/2023

Hi there!

Oh my! Shiny, red hearts! And not skinny hearts – we’re talking big, round, can-hold-a-ton-of-love hearts! My absolute favorite kind!

As you can tell by the two cards I’m sharing today, I went a little crazy playing with the new Rich Red Matte Metallic cardstock and the Nested Round Heart Dies that are part of the Simon Says Stamp “Kisses” release. I decided to let the cardstock and the dies shine by using a monochromatic theme and keeping the design pretty simple.

To make the Love Ya card: 1. Die cut several of the nested hearts from the Rich Red Matte Metallic cardstock and plain white card stock. To get just the outline of the heart, you’ll need to nest two dies together. 2. Die cut the sentiment using the new Love Ya dies from the Kisses release. I used Matte Black for the shadow and white for the words. Adhere the words to the shadow using liquid glue. 3. Arrange your hearts on your card front and glue them down with liquid glue. I did a random pattern but you could easily make a grid or other pattern if you like. 4. Trim any hearts that hang over your card front. 5. Pop the Love Ya sentiment onto the card front using foam adhesive. 6. Add a few gems for even more shine!
To make the Love You card: 1. Die cut the second largest heart from a white cardstock panel that is the same size as your card base. 2. Die cut a red heart outline (by nesting the second largest heart die into the largest one). 3. Use the white cardstock panel to determine your sentiment placement on the card base. 4. Stamp and heat emboss your sentiment in black. I used the “Love You” sentiment from the From The Heart Messages stamp set that is part of the release. 5. Adhere your white cardstock panel (the one with the heart cut out of it) to your card base using foam adhesive. 6. Glue your red heart outline around the heart opening using liquid glue. 7. Add a few gems! I hope you liked these projects and that you’ll check out the new Simon Says Stamp Kisses release! There’s so many great things packed into this release – you definitely don’t want to miss it! Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
