Hi everyone!

I had so much fun creating this playful birthday card using the new Spellbinders On The Farm collection! With such a fun sentiment—“Ham It Up On Your Birthday”—I knew I had to find a creative way to bring it to life. I thought using a filmstrip to showcase this adorable pig in different poses would be a great way to show what a ham he is!

Design Details

🐷 Filmstrip Fun – I created the filmstrip using a strip of black cardstock and an old punch I had in my drawer.  I love how it creates a snapshot effect, making it feel like the pig is hamming it up for a little photo shoot!

📸 Pose Perfection – To make each frame unique, I tilted the pig’s head slightly in each section and adjusted him both in and out of the frame, giving him different expressions and making it look like he’s having the best time. Adding tiny details like the propeller hat and scarf brought even more personality to the design.

🎨 Textured Background – I kept the background clean but interesting by using a subtle embossed pattern. I don’t think this embossing folder is available anymore, but honestly, any embossing folder would work! It adds just enough texture without taking away from the main design.

🎂 Finishing Touches – The sentiment banner adds a playful touch with its bold, angled edges, reinforcing the movement in the card. A bit of ink blending on the sky and grass adds depth to the little farm scenes within each filmstrip window.

This card was such a blast to make, and I love how the filmstrip adds extra personality to an already fun sentiment!
