Scrapbooking: A Trail, A Challenge, and Some Friends

Spellbinders | Storytelling Collection

Hi everyone!

I’m switching things up a bit today (and again one day next week) by posting a scrapbook page.  I don’t think I’ve ever shared a 12×12 scrapbook page here on my blog before, but I’ve been having fun going through some older photos and reminiscing…and sometimes my memories have warranted a bit of creativity.

Today, my page features an older photo of my friend Steph and I at the registration station for the Rachel Carson Trail Challenge (RCTC).  RCTC is a 32+ mile hike that consists of 18,000 feet of elevation change.  You have from sunrise to sundown to complete all 32 miles.  Each year the event changes direction.  I did this event 5 years in a row and was blessed to have dear friends hike with me several times.  This photo is from one of the times when Steph joined me.

For this page, I kept to the rule of thirds (where one third of the page is detailed and the rest is simple).

I added a few glittery elements (the adorable little camera and the “friends” sentiment – both are from the new Spellbinders’ Storytelling release), and did a little bit of layering (but not too much – I didn’t want the page to get too bulky).

The papers  and ephemera are from a previous release from Rosie’s Studio called Heartfelt (available from Spellbinders).

I fussy cut the flowers and leaves from one of the papers in the Heartfelt paper pack.

All of the supplies I used are listed below!

I hope this page inspires you to tell a story creatively!

Have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
