Studio Notes is a space where I share small observations about card design — the quiet decisions that shape how a card feels. These posts aren’t tutorials, just reflections from the studio.

When a design feels impactful without being busy, scale is often doing more work than detail. A larger focal element naturally establishes hierarchy, giving the eye a clear place to land before taking in anything else.

I often think about scale early in the design process. Choosing to make one element larger can eliminate the need for added embellishment or intricate detail. Scale creates presence, and presence creates confidence in a design.

In this card, the oversized panel becomes the foundation of the layout. Its size carries the scene, allowing simple shapes and minimal detail to feel intentional rather than sparse. The result is a design that feels open, balanced, and complete because the scale is doing the heavy lifting.
