Hi there!

It’s release day at Simon Says Stamp! I love release days!  It is so fun to see all the fabulous new products and the wonderful creations that the designers make with them!  It’s like opening a package full of inspiration!

I have so many fun cards and projects to share with you for this release! Today I’m starting out with a loose watercolor card that features two new products from today’s “Sweetheart” release: the Regal Hearts background stamp and the Fancy Sweetheart die (all products linked below in the Supplies list).

To make this card:

  1. Heat emboss the Regal Hearts background stamp onto a watercolor panel with white embossing powder
  2. Loosely watercolor over the embossed image using Distress Inks.  I smooshed my ink pads on my glass mat and used a bit of water and a paintbrush to drop the color here-and-there on the panel.
  3. When the panel is completely dry, trim it down and die cut the shadow die from the Sweetheart die set into the panel.
  4. Adhere the panel to a card front using foam adhesive.
  5. Die cut the “sweetheart” word from glitter cardstock and adhere it with liquid glue to the opening on the card front where you die cut the shadow die.
  6. Use a small hole punch to punch small grooves in the top and bottom of the card to hold your twine secure, then run twine through it and create a bow.  I punched through the both the front and back of the card to add a little bit of interest on the inside of the card, but you could just make the grooves on the front panel.
  7. Add a few gems for some sparkle!

I hope you enjoy release days as much as I do – I just know you’re going to find some inspiration in this release!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
