A Little Dragon Birthday

Simon Says Stamp | Celebrate Release
04/20/2024

Hi there!

This baby dragon got me from the minute I saw him.  So adorable!  There are several critters in the set – all celebrating in some way.  My card today features the baby dragon, but I have another card coming that uses the little piggy with the balloon.

I had so much fun making this card. I bought Ohuhu alcohol markers several months ago thinking that it might be good for me to try a brand that had a price point that was more do-able for many of my crafting friends.  Don’t get me wrong – I still love my Copics – but I have to say, these Ohuhu markers really worked well!  (psssst:  this post is NOT sponsored by Ohuhu.  They don’t know I’m doing it and …well, they don’t even know I exist, so….).

Ok.  Back to my card.

The new Celebrating You stamp & die set is so completely adorable!

To make this card:

  1. Stamp, color, and die cut your dragon image. The Ohuhu colors I used are listed below.
  2. Ink blend a panel using Distress Oxide in Peacock feathers and Prize Ribbon – you want to use a light hand.
  3. Sprinkle the ink-blended panel with water and blot it dry.  Then, splatter it with white splatters.
  4. Adhere the ink-blended panel to your card front.
  5. In a separate, white panel, determine your layout and mark where to make the cuts so that the ink-blended panel can be seen through and so that your dragon image overlaps a bit at the top and bottom.
  6. Stamp your sentiment on the bottom portion.
  7. Adhere the top and bottom white panels to your card front with foam adhesive.
  8. Adhere your dragon to the card front using foam and liquid adhesive.
  9. Add a few gems for some shine!

Ohuhu markers used for the dragon:   BG6, G4, PB10, G8, G120, GY172, G020

I hope you like this card and that you’ll find some time to check out this amazing new Simon Says Stamp release.  There’s something in it for everyone!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
