Hi everyone!
There is something about being by water that soothes my soul. I tried to capture that feeling in my card for today. I hope you like it!
The background for this card is made using the new Uncharted Waters stencil set from Spellbinders. It is part of the Fair Winds Collection designed by Dawn Woleslagle. It’s a 6-piece layering stencil set that creates the most beautiful scenes – and you can use (or not use) different parts of it based on the scene you are creating.
I took a slightly different approach when ink blending this background: rather than filling in the stencil openings with ink blending, I only inked the outside edges of each shape. This left a lot of white space on the inside and gave the card a softer feel. I encourage you to try this approach if you haven’t already – I think you’ll like the results.
I framed my stenciled background and added a couple of nautical-themed die cuts to pull the card together and give it some dimension. I used a silver metallic cardstock for the anchor, but I used my sand eraser over it to remove a bit of the shine and make it look “less new”.
A few clear, domed gems and this card is complete!
What do you think? Does it give you a peaceful feeling?
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today! I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!
Oh, this is just so lovely! You always do such beautiful creations and I’m so impressed with your creativity. I just seem to learn and get inspired from your cards and so want to thank you for sharing with us. Keep them coming!
Your stenciled scene is amazing! Thanks for sharing the tip about leaving the inside of the images white. Love the aging on the anchor. A brilliant idea to use the sand eraser on it!
