Looking into the Water

Simon Says Stamp | Sunny Vibes Release
06/20/2024

Hi there!

It’s release day at Simon Says Stamp and we are kicking off the new “Sunny Vibes” release!  And let me just say:  O. M. Geee!  Get your shades!

I’ll have several cards to share with you this month from this release but I’m starting out with this card I created that gives the effect of looking down into the water.  I’ll admit, it doesn’t photograph as well as I’d like, but I think you get the idea.

This card features two new products from this release – the acetate “beachcombing” foil transfer sheets and the sound waves embossing folder.

I thought the sound waves embossing folder looked like ripples in the water, so I embossed it, swiped over the top with some blue ink, then strategically cut out various sections with my craft knife.

I foiled the acetate with gold, trimmed it, and framed it, before adding it to the top of the embossed panel.

To make it look like I’m looking down into the water, I used foam squares to pop the panel up on to my card front.  This added the depth and dimension I needed!

Whenever you foil you have foil remnants which are the reverse of the image foiled.  I used the left-over foil from foiling the acetate sheet, along with some DecoFoil Hot Melt Adhesive, to get the solid, gold-foiled starfish I used to accent the card.

The sentiment is from the new Beachcomber Stamp set.

I hope you like this card and that you check out the new release!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
