Simon Says Stamp | Splendor Release
02/23/2024

Hi there!

Today we are having a hop over on Instagram to celebrate Simon Says Stamp’s new Splendor release.  Be sure to head over to my Instagram (@jean.studiojd) for more details and a chance to win!

For the hop today, I’m sharing a bright rainbow card featuring a gorgeous tulip outline die as the focal image.  I can’t decide which part of this card I like the most!

Rainbows go with everything – but I love them most with white and black, so that’s the color scheme I used today.  To make this card:

  1. I used my Simon Says Stamp Pawsitively Saturated Ink pads as watercolors for the rainbow – the 3 colors I used were Sweets, Sunbeam, and Royal.  Simply smoosh the ink onto a nonporous surface like a glass mat, then use a wet paintbrush to pick up the color and swipe it diagonally across a watercolor card stock panel.  TIP:  Start in the middle with yellow and work your way out.  By blending the colors together I was able to get the orange, green and purple colors.  Set the panel aside to dry.  The colors will dry back/lighter so go ahead and add more color if needed to increase the intensity.
  2. While the panel is drying, die cut the tulip outline out of 3-5 pieces of white card stock and glue the layers together.
  3. Die cut the tulip shadow out of vellum.
  4. Adhere the tulip outline to the vellum with liquid glue.
  5. Trim a sentiment strip from the Lucky Reverse sentiments.
  6. Once the watercolored panel is completely dry, die cut it with an A2 Marquis die.
  7. Adhere the watercolored panel to a card front using foam adhesive.
  8. Use liquid glue to adhere your tulip to the front of the card.
  9. Use liquid glue to adhere your sentiment.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today!  I hope you like this card and that it inspires you to create something beautiful!  And don’t forget to head to my Instagram so you can hop along with us!

Have a wonderfully creative day, everyone!

This is lovely, Jean! I adore that marquis frame, too. I’ll go over to IG and check it out.

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
