Studio Notes is a space where I share small observations about card design — the quiet decisions that shape how a card feels. These posts aren’t tutorials, just reflections from the studio.
Sometimes the most effective design decision happens before the focal elements are even added. When a background carries texture, tone, or atmosphere, it sets the stage for everything that follows.
I often rely on the background to establish mood and depth so the rest of the design can remain simple. When the background is doing its job, focal elements don’t need to compete for attention. They can sit comfortably within the space instead of working to define it.
In this card, the background creates softness and depth that supports the florals rather than overpowering them. The result is a design that feels layered and complete without relying on excess detail.
This card was originally shared in the Blooming in Blue post. The full supply list has been reused here for reference.
