SWAK – A Lesson in Creative License

Hey there!

I am a sucker for any type of play on words, so when I saw the Kissing Booth stamp from Simon Says Stamp I knew I had to use one the little seal in the CZ Designs “Wild Love” stamp set to make this card!  I mean… a seal…sealing a kiss…in a kissing booth? (I hope you think that’s as clever as I do but if not, I still hope you’ll like this card)!

I took way more creative liberty on this card than usual because…well…I really wanted to use that little seal critter and I had a vision that just wouldn’t work without it.  Here are the creative modifications I made to achieve my vision:

  1. I masked off the large heart element in the center of the kissing booth so I could add the seal there.
  2. I put the “sealed with a kiss” speech bubble over the “Free Kisses” sign at the top of the kissing booth.
  3. I overlayed the swag sentiment across the front of the booth with hearts that I finished off with glossy accents.

If you’ve never tried to make a stamp fit your vision, I hope you’ll challenge yourself to try – it is a great way to get even more value from your stamp sets and it’s a fun process to see how things turn out!

I used my Copic markers to color the elements of this card, added a few wispy clouds with a stencil, and grounded the booth with a grass diecut (that I also colored with Copics).

I used black glossy cardstock for the SWAK sentiment and lucked out a bit because it looks like the seal is holding it.  The shine from the glossy sentiment and the shine from the Glossy Accents on the heart work well together.

I hope you like this card and that I’ve inspired you to look at your stamps a bit differently – and to give yourself permission to take a little creative license now and then!  Thank you so much for stopping by today!
