Studio Notes | Vellum for Visual Rest

02/27/2026

Studio Notes is a space where I share small observations about card design — the quiet decisions that shape how a card feels. These posts aren’t tutorials, just reflections from the studio.

Vellum is one of those materials that works quietly in the background, yet it can completely change how a design feels. When used thoughtfully, it creates a pause for the eye and softens transitions between layers without adding visual weight.

I often reach for vellum when a card needs separation rather than emphasis. It allows elements to remain connected while still giving each piece its own space to breathe. The transparency keeps the design light and prevents the focal point from competing with what sits behind it.

This card uses vellum as a design layer rather than decoration. The translucent florals create gentle structure and visual rest, allowing the overall composition to feel calm, balanced, and intentional.

This card was originally shared in the Pretty Vellum Flowers post. The full supply list has been reused here for reference.
