Keep Soaring

Spellbinders | Simon Hurley “Sky’s the Limit” Collection
04/21/2025

Hi again, crafty friends!

I’m back with the second of the two cards I created using the Sky’s the Limit collection by Simon Hurley for @teamspellbinders—and while the first card was bold and full of movement (hello, bold kite background!), this one takes a softer, more serene approach ☁️

Sometimes it’s the quiet cards that say the most. With just one, dimensional kite sailing through a soft, cloudy sky and a simple sentiment, this design is all about encouragement, calm, and clarity.

If you missed the first card I shared, be sure to check out my previous post to see how I used the same collection for a completely different look!

Design Highlights

  • 🪁 Single statement kite: One kite, layered in bright hues, becomes the focal point—simple and symbolic, perfect for sending a message of encouragement or resilience.
  • ☁️ Soft stenciled clouds: Lightly ink-blended clouds create a dreamy backdrop that keeps the card feeling airy and light.
  • 🖋️ Sentiment that uplifts: “Keep soaring” feels like a little pep talk on a card—ideal for graduations, challenges, or new adventures.
  • 🎀 Curved kite string detail: The black kite string gives the kite a sense of gentle movement and balances the minimal layout.
  • ✨ Finishing sparkle: A few silver gems give just the right touch of polish without distracting from the message.

It’s always fun to see how a single collection can inspire two totally different vibes—from energetic and bold to soft and minimal. The Sky’s the Limit really delivers when it comes to creative flexibility!

Thanks for soaring by!

I hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

I fell in love with card-making many years ago and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I love trying out new techniques and finding the perfect color combination for whatever I’m creating.

By nature, I am an uber-organizer and a steadfast planner, but as you’ll see, my creations are much more fluid. And while I love color theory, the concept of lights and shadows, and the importance of depth and perspective – these are not things I worry about when it comes to my creations.

I simply find joy in creating and delight in sharing.

I hope that by sharing my cards and other art with you here on my blog I can inspire you to create something you love!
